Throughout this course, you will learn how to design, contextualise and facilitate training to suit individual and organisational needs, while meeting industry and quality standards. Training is focused on the facilitation of learning, and maintaining and enhancing professional practice through competence-based assessment that fits within a national framework.
You will learn how to design and develop learning programs and assessment tools, deliver training packages and accredited courses, and assess participant competence. This course is delivered over five workshops, and all must be completed to receive the full qualification.
Students undertaking this course will develop skills in:
- Developing and undertaking presentations and providing instructions
- Facilitating learning in a work based environment
- Interpreting and applying training packages and recognised training products
- Designing plans for training
- Assessing and validating competence
- Working within a regulatory framework
The TAE qualification meets the minimum education requirement for trainers and assessors operating without supervision under applicable VET legislation, frameworks and/or standards. It is suitable for people wanting to advance their career in training and assessing and this qualification prepares you for roles such as:
- VET lecturer in a Registered Training Organisation (RTO)
- Workplace Assessor
- Trainer
- Mentor
This course is delivered over five blocks. All blocks must be successfully completed to receive the full qualification. Each block of units is delivered face to face on campus which is supplemented by weekly tutorials which may be online or face to face.
It is recommended that the blocks are completed in sequence.

This course is delivered by a combination of face-to-face blocks on campus as well as course content being accessible online.
In addition to the workshops and or online webinars, you are required to complete a further 200-300 hours of self-study and assessment.
This qualification has been designed to cater to your individual work commitments, providing sufficient time to trial, evaluate and improve on the knowledge and skills being developed.
